Lee Strobel shared his message and called it “The Case for Life.” Not only did he highlight his journey, his testimony and his heart, but his words were powerful in equipping all of us in the pro-life movement.

As he explained the vital role of the Pregnancy Care Center and what it takes to “save a life,” he defined the monetary value of center resources. He shared that $1,200 is what it costs nationwide to save a baby’s life from abortion. The 2018 Gala raised enough funds to save 229 LIVES! Praise the Lord that 229 lives will live to change the world and grow the kingdom!

Celebrating Life Gala 2018

LEE STROBEL

Atheist-turned-Christian Lee Strobel, the former award-winning legal editor of The Chicago Tribune, is a New York Times best-selling author of more than twenty books. He is a former Professor of Christian Thought at Houston Baptist University and serves as a Teaching Pastor at Woodlands Church in Texas.

After investigating the evidence for Jesus, Lee became a Christian in 1981. He subsequently became a teaching pastor at two of America’s most influential churches and hosted the national network TV program Faith Under Fire. In addition, he taught First Amendment law at Roosevelt University. Lee has won national awards for his books The Case for Christ, The Case for Faith, The Case for a Creator, and The Case for Grace.

In 2017, Lee’s spiritual journey was depicted in a major motion picture, The Case for Christ, which was the #3 faith-based movie of the year at the box-office. The Christian Post named Lee one of the top seven evangelical leaders who made an impact in 2017.

Lee and Leslie have been married for forty-five years and live in Texas. Their daughter, Alison, is the author of five novels. Their son, Kyle, is a professor of spiritual theology at the Talbot School of Theology at Biola University.

Days later “Ava” returned for her ultrasound and said she was still pursuing an abortion.  She was quiet during the ultrasound and tried to avoid looking at the screen.  She began to cry and covered her face when she heard the baby’s heartbeat.  She was 7 weeks into her pregnancy. Her advocate sat down with her and asked how she was doing.  She said “not good” and shared her and her husband were now separated and started crying.  Her advocate told her that even though she feels alone, God is with her through this storm and then prayed for “Ava” to have strength, wisdom and peace.  Another ultrasound appointment was offered and encouraged, as she was still making a decision about her pregnancy.

“Ava” returned 12 days later for another ultrasound and told us she decided to go through with this pregnancy.  This time she watched the screen and smiled when she saw her baby wiggling and gladly accepted sonogram pictures of her baby.  Her advocate then met with her to go over her parenting plan and resources.  She asked her what changed her mind and “Ava” said, “that she prayed for me” referring to her first ultrasound appointment. She said she was in a bad place then because her husband had left her and she had an abortion scheduled for that Saturday.

She was crying tears of joy as she explained that her husband came home the very next day and he was now happy about the pregnancy.  “Ava” said she had been praying and decided she couldn’t go through with the abortion. Now they are both happy about the pregnancy and getting ready to tell the kids.  She said they also received good news about their daughter’s cancer in that it had not spread and was treatable with radiation and surgery, and the doctors were optimistic.
